Family psychotherapy

In Family psychotherapy, the treatment focuses on the whole family, and family members are considered both as individuals and as a part of the family system. There are many different kind of families: nuclear families, divorced families, blended families, single-parent families or childless families. Also different generations of the family or important close-ones can be considered as part of the family.

The family’s well-being may be burdened by various factors, such as constant disputes between family members, physical or mental illness of a family member, an accident that befell the family, a death or childlessness. Every family is unique. The implementation of family therapy is tailored individually for every family. Family psychotherapy is not family counseling, but aims to increase understanding of the importance of communication and interaction between different family members. The personalities and well-being of different family members affect the health and functioning of the whole family.

Parents counseling

Being a parent creates new challenges to life, such as a child’s demanding temperament, special needs, developmental stages or various crises in the family. In parental guidance, you can get discussion help and support for parenting. The goal is to help parents understand their own child’s behavior and strengthen the relationship between parent and child. In parental counseling, we discuss the child’s behavior, challenges, and how difficult life situations in the past and present have affected the child and are affecting the child at that very moment. Together, we focus on what kind of care the child and family need and look for new, more effective ways of care and raising. The goal is also to support parents’ own coping. Sometimes even one support visit is enough and sometimes there may be a need for long-term parental counseling.
